Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients (For 4 Servings):

For the Fried Cod:

  • 4 pieces of cod fillets (about 4-6 oz each)

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra spice)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Tacos:

  • 4 flour tortillas (soft taco size)

  • 2 cups shredded purple cabbage

  • 1-2 jalapeños, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat, or leave them for more spice)

  • Komodo Gold Hot Sauce, to taste (for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:

    • Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel and cut them into smaller pieces (about 2-3 pieces per fillet).

  2. Coat the Cod:

    • In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

    • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and beaten egg.

    • Dip each piece of cod first into the buttermilk mixture, then coat them in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the coating sticks well.

  3. Fry the Cod:

    • In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

    • Once the oil is hot (test by dropping a small bit of the flour mixture—if it sizzles, it's ready), add the battered cod pieces.

    • Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until the fish is golden brown and crispy. Remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. Prepare the Toppings:

    • Shred the purple cabbage finely and set it aside.

    • Slice the jalapeños thinly. If you want less heat, remove the seeds before slicing.

  5. Assemble the Tacos:

    • Warm your flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave for about 10-15 seconds.

    • Place 1-2 pieces of fried cod on each tortilla.

    • Add a handful of shredded purple cabbage on top of the fish.

    • Add a few jalapeño slices for a spicy kick.

    • Drizzle Komodo Gold Hot Sauce generously over the top.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve your fried fish tacos immediately with extra hot sauce on the side for those who want more heat!

Tips:

  • Customize with extras: You can add fresh cilantro, avocado slices, or a squeeze of lime juice for added flavor.
