Cook Time:
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients (For 4 Servings):
For the Fried Cod:
4 pieces of cod fillets (about 4-6 oz each)
1 cup flour
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra spice)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
1 egg, beaten
1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Tacos:
4 flour tortillas (soft taco size)
2 cups shredded purple cabbage
1-2 jalapeños, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat, or leave them for more spice)
Komodo Gold Hot Sauce, to taste (for drizzling)
Instructions:
Prepare the Fish:
Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel and cut them into smaller pieces (about 2-3 pieces per fillet).
Coat the Cod:
In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and beaten egg.
Dip each piece of cod first into the buttermilk mixture, then coat them in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the coating sticks well.
Fry the Cod:
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot (test by dropping a small bit of the flour mixture—if it sizzles, it's ready), add the battered cod pieces.
Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until the fish is golden brown and crispy. Remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Prepare the Toppings:
Shred the purple cabbage finely and set it aside.
Slice the jalapeños thinly. If you want less heat, remove the seeds before slicing.
Assemble the Tacos:
Warm your flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave for about 10-15 seconds.
Place 1-2 pieces of fried cod on each tortilla.
Add a handful of shredded purple cabbage on top of the fish.
Add a few jalapeño slices for a spicy kick.
Drizzle Komodo Gold Hot Sauce generously over the top.
Serve:
Serve your fried fish tacos immediately with extra hot sauce on the side for those who want more heat!
Tips:
Customize with extras: You can add fresh cilantro, avocado slices, or a squeeze of lime juice for added flavor.
